Africa Is Not for Sale - Dr. Anyagre at Garvey Awards Urges Pan-African Unity

At the Marcus Mosiah Garvey Awards Night held at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra, Dr. Benjamin Anyagre Aziginaateeg, CEO of Afrikan Continental Union Consult (ACUC), issued a firm call: Africa must remain in African hands.

He stressed that institutions built for African unity are not commodities to be traded. “The Organisation of Afrikan Unity, now the Afrikan Union, is not for sale. The Afrikan Continental Free Trade Area is not for sale. These institutions exist first and foremost for Afrikans,” he declared.

Dr. Anyagre highlighted the Sahel region as a focal point of resistance, commending Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré for prioritising his people’s interests. He warned against betrayals from within, pointing to the assassinations of Patrice Lumumba, Thomas Sankara, and Amílcar Cabral as consequences of both external meddling and internal complicity.

“The enemies within are more dangerous than those without,” he said, urging vigilance.

He also called on the African Union to adopt homegrown solutions. He reaffirmed the importance of Agenda 2063, insisting that Africa’s resources and future must be controlled by Africans.

The Garvey Awards Night brought together Pan-Africanists and dignitaries to celebrate the legacy of Marcus Garvey and renew the resolve for a united, independent Africa.
